Though Georgia and Clemson do not meet annually, the two teams have plenty of history on the gridiron. UGA is up 42-18-4 all-time in the series against the Tigers. The last time Georgia and Clemson met, Mark Richt coached the Bulldogs to a 45-21 win in 2014.
Richt recently appeared on “The Paul Finebaum Show” to share his thoughts on Saturday’s showdown in Charlotte between No. 3 Clemson and No. 5 Georgia.
“In politics they say, ‘Follow the money.’ But in football you say, ‘Follow the recruits,'” Richt said on the show. “Both teams have recruited at the very top, so there are going to be some great players that are highly motivated by these coaches out there.”
From a recruiting perspective, Georgia’s roster is more talented. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 2 nationally on 247Sports’ 2021 College Football Team Talent Composite while the Tigers check in at No. 4. Georgia, though, is expected to be without multiple highly talented players for Saturday’s game.
