Mark Stoops addresses report he asked for buyout: ‘Zero chance I’m walking away’

It’s safe to say Mark Stoops is having a 2025 season to forget.
Kentucky just lost its 2nd straight game and now sits 2-3 on the season, having lost all 3 of their SEC contests thus far. Georgia demolished the Wildcats in Week 6, 35-14 – though the score doesn’t really do the ugliness justice.
Following the game, Kentucky head coach was asked about a report from Kentucky radio broadcaster Alan Cutler, who said that Stoops asked Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart for a buyout following last season’s loss to Tennessee.
Stoops responded to this claim with the following: “There is zero chance I’m walking away. You know what I mean? Zero.”
Here’s a clip from the postgame presser:
Kentucky has performed like the worst team in the SEC through the first 6 weeks of the season. The Wildcats came into their matchup against Georgia bottom 5 in the conference in yards allowed per game, yards per game, passing yards per game and first downs, among others.
It’ll be tough for Kentucky to even find a win in conference play if they keep playing like this. The Wildcats still have to face Texas, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida and Vanderbilt. November 15 against Tennessee Tech is the only game they’re favored in this season, per ESPN’s FPI.
