Mark Stoops and Kentucky had a very strong first half against Florida, and is in the locker room with a 2-touchdown lead over the visiting Gators.
“Defense has been pretty solid, really disappointed, we missed a sack on that last drive that led to a touchdown,” Stoops said. “That’s a big miss. You can’t miss and we paid for it, because we ended up giving up 7 points there. Outside of that playing relatively clean defensively.”
Kentucky held Florida to 7 first downs and 3-for-8 on 3rd down conversions in the first half.
Stoops also noted that running back Ray Davis is having a “big day” with 12 carries for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 75-yarder in the first half, a career long.
“Receptions, the runs, I think that was the key for us coming into it, for both sides to have success running the ball to set up some play action, so hopefully we can continue to stay physical,” Stoops said.
Kentucky will receive the ball to start the second half, as it looks to earn its first 3-game winning streak over Florida since Paul “Bear” Bryant was the coach.
