The No. 1 ranked quarterback in the transfer portal is headed to Big Blue Nation, much to the delight of Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops.
Kentucky inked former NC State quarterback Devin Leary on Early Signing Day. Leary is regarded by 247Sports as the No. 2 overall player in the transfer portal. Leary spent 4 seasons at NC State, amassing 6,807 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions while completing 60.2% of his throws.
Stoops on landing Leary: "It felt really good. I felt relieved. We felt confident that he was high on us but he still had another visit." Said he respected Leary wanting to be thorough with the process.
"He's a dude. Very much you can see him being a great fit."

Stoops can now exhale after the highly-touted quarterback is a member of the Wildcats.
“It felt really good. I felt relieved,” Stoops said. “We felt confident that he was high on us but he still had another visit.”
Stoops added that he believes Leary will seamlessly transition into the roster. Leary is likely the favorite to supplant departing quarterback Will Levis, who is headed for the NFL Draft.
“He’s a dude,” Stoops said. “Very much you can see him being a great fit.”
