A small group of Kentucky fans rushed the field at Kroger Field on Saturday night after the Wildcats completed an upset win over Mississippi State. That led to Kentucky receiving a $100,000 fine from the SEC.

Considering it was only a small group of students, the fine may have been viewed as a bit hefty by some. And if Kentucky was going to get fined anyways, perhaps more students should have rushed the field.

“We feel like we didn’t get our money’s worth because only a few fans leaked out there,” Wildcats coach Mark Stoops said during an appearance on “Taz & The Moose” on CBS Sports Radio. “We won by 21 points, so it wasn’t that dramatic. But those are good problems to have, I guess.”

The last time Kentucky received a $100,000 fine for storming the field came in 2014, following a win over South Carolina. If Wildcats fans storm the field again this season, it will lead to a $250,000 fine for the school.

While Kentucky’s win may not have been worthy of storming the field for many of the fans in attendance, it was certainly an impressive victory. The Wildcats beat the Bulldogs, 28-7, to improve to 4-0 to start the season. It was their second SEC win as they also own a victory over Florida.

Kentucky also moved into the AP Top 25 poll with the win. The Wildcats are ranked No. 17.

Kentucky fans likely won’t storm the field this Saturday, but the Wildcats have an opportunity to build on their strong start when they host South Carolina. The Wildcats and Gamecocks are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
