Mark Stoops knows his defense has a challenge ahead of it against Tennessee.

The Vols have put together explosive offenses that can put up big numbers, and this year’s team is no different. While Tennessee might not have the same offense it had last year, the Vols still can give defenses problems. Stoops broke down what makes Tennessee’s offense so special during his press conference Monday.

“I think you’ve seen a lot of it the last couple years,” Stoops said. “Just their tempo creates problems, but I think they are very balanced. When you’re looking for balance, you know you’ve heard me talk about it a lot and as a defensive coach, defending somebody that is exactly 50/50 right now. 217 to 220. That’s about as balanced as you can get and they have a very efficient offense that’s hard to defend. They spread you out. The temp that they use, the schemes that they use. Very talented quarterback in Joe Milton with a ton of experience. I think they have dynamic running backs along with always having explosive receivers.”

Tennessee had a slow offensive performance against Texas A&M a few weeks ago, but was back on track against Alabama, although the Tide came out on top.

Now the Vols are looking to get back in the win column against Kentucky, but the Wildcats will be bringing out all the stops to get a signature win over Tennessee.
