Ahead of Saturday’s rivalry clash, Mark Stoops had high praise for Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker.
“He’s making unbelievably quick decisions. … Very confident, making quick decisions, for playing as fast as they do and him making such good decisions, so few turnovers. … Very impressive,” Stoops said of the transfer from Virginia Tech on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference.
It will be Stoops’ first time facing a Josh Heupel-coached Tennessee team. There is some familiarity between the two coaches, though, as they were both on staff at Arizona in 2005.
“I remember Josh being a quality guy, a really good person,” Stoops said on the teleconference. “He spent time with both my brothers, so I remember him being a very good coach. We were together a short time, but I remember taking him in and showing him around Tucson.”
Kentucky and Tennessee are scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, airing on ESPN2.
