This offseason, the Kentucky Wildcats have had a QB competition, with Joey Gatewood and Penn State transfer Will Levis as the top 2 options.
No official announcement as to who will start the season as QB1 has been made, but a report from Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio says the team has been informed of the Week 1 starter.
Per Jones, Levis is the guy who has won the competition, and the team has been informed by coach Mark Stoops:
BREAKING:
Source tells KSR that Mark Stoops informed the team this weekend that Will Levis will be the starter at Quarterback for Kentucky in Game 1

What that means for Gatewood moving forward remains to be seen, but it seems Levis is the guy in Lexington for now.
Kentucky hosts Louisiana-Monroe in Week 1 of the 2021 season on Saturday, Sept. 4.
