Former Arkansas defensive standout Martrell Spaight retires from the NFL

After four seasons and 37 career NFL appearances, Martrell Spaight is calling it a career.
The Kansas City Chiefs placed the linebacker on the reserve/retired list this week, signaling the end of Spaight’s professional football career. Spaight was a fifth-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, where he played for three seasons. He ends his NFL career with 90 tackles and one interception.
The Little Rock native registered 150 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception during his two seasons on the field as a Razorback. He was a First-Team All-SEC selection following his senior season in Fayetteville.
Following the news, Arkansas congratulated Spaight on his playing career and wished him well as he enters the next phase of his life.
