‘Mass casualties’ reported after pedestrian bridge collapses at FIU

Tragedy struck on the campus of Florida International University in Miami on Thursday afternoon, when a pedestrian bridge collapsed.
Fortunately, according to reports, no pedestrians were on the closed bridge, but several cars were crushed under the weight of the collapse.
Reporter Monique O. Madan was on the scene, and nearby residents shared video of the rescue process:

It is unknown how many people have been killed in this tragic accident, as rescue workers haven’t been able to get under the bridge:

Obviously, there will be inquests into exactly what failed with this project, but for now, the rescue efforts are the most important thing.
Hopefully, rescue workers stay safe and are able to help as many people as possible.
