The first release of the College Football Playoff rankings is on the horizon and there’s been a shake up in the rankings ahead of it with Georgia and Tennessee coming in at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

And as there always is with the CFP, when the first rankings are out, there is no doubt that there will be some level of controversy. But if there is one thing that is almost for certain, it’s that either the Bulldogs or the Volunteers will be ranked on top with Alabama a team that is questionable despite being the favorite for the top seed it so many years past.

College football analyst Paul Finebaum gave his thoughts on the topic

“It doesn’t matter who is No. 1 this week. The winner of this game will be No. 1 next week,” Finebaum said. “There’s no exacting that.” Ohio State is obviously among the others in the mix, with the likes of Michigan and Clemson also in the conversation alongside the Crimson Tide.

Week 10 will undoubtedly be one to watch with some of the best contests of the year coming up.
