Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn, former college quarterbacks who once played for the highest stakes, brought up a touchy subject during FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show: When the dust settles and the College Football Playoff field is picked next month, will both Alabama and Georgia be denied from playing for the highest stakes?

Leinart, the former USC star, and Quinn, the ex-Notre Dame signal-caller, both had the same answer for a question the current college football analysts probably never thought they would have to ask this fall: No.

In fact, Leinart and Quinn think Alabama and Georgia will both get into the inaugural 12-team Playoff despite both teams currently having 2 losses. Alabama was having a predictably easy time of it Saturday against Mercer, while Georgia has a big task on Saturday night as it welcomes Tennessee to Athens.

“I actually believe both teams are going to get in,” said Leinart, who called Alabama the most dangerous team right now in college football and would be the most dangerous team if it did sneak into the Playoff.

And what about Georgia, which is coming off a loss at Ole Miss and faces a big challenge on Saturday night?

“I just don’t see Kirby Smart and this team losing again,” said Leinart.

What about Quinn?

“I think both will end up getting in,” agreed Quinn, who believes that because the SEC is the deepest conference in college football, Alabama and Georgia will get the benefit of the doubt when the Playoff field is announced.
