Ole Miss travels to Alabama this week, and the Rebels seem increasingly likely to play two quarterbacks. Coach Matt Luke said QB Matt Corral is “day-to-day” with bruised ribs he suffered in the loss to Cal on Saturday.
The coach said in his regular weekly press conference that Corral was “pretty sore” on Sunday, but better on Monday. Luke added that you “absolutely” could see two quarterbacks against Alabama. Luke added that the coaching staff would know more about Corral’s status on Tuesday or Wednesday. His injury came in the fourth quarter against Cal. He was replaced by John Rhys Plumlee, who piloted two drives.
Plumlee was 7-for-7 passing for 82 yards. He also had 53 rushing yards. Corral was 22-for-41 for 266 yards, with 56 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Overall, Corral this season has completed 60 percent of his passes for 844 yards, with four touchdowns and an interception. That puts him sixth in the SEC in yards and passing touchdowns among quarterbacks.
Alabama has won three straight in the series and leads the overall matchup 50-10-2.
The game is set for a 2:30 p.m. local time kick off on CBS.
