Ole Miss is getting set for its big matchup against No. 1 Alabama this weekend, and head coach Matt Luke had some good news regarding two starters on Wednesday.

Luke said that star WR A.J. Brown has been in practice this week and should be good to go against the Tide.

“He’s looked fine,” said Luke. “We’ve held him out some, try to limit his pitch count a little bit. Give him as much rest as possible, but I think he’ll be ready to go.”

Brown continues to lead the SEC in receiving yards with 389, and the news that he will likely be available Saturday is a great sign. The Rebels will need every weapon available when they take on Alabama.

Luke was less committal on the status of center Sean Rawlings, but he has seen Rawlings improve this week. Luke says Rawlings fully dressed at practice, but “he didn’t do anything live against the defense. Probably won’t be able to til Saturday.”

“He’s played enough where I’d feel confident if he felt like he could go Saturday that he could do it without that many reps,” Luke explained. “I think he’s way further along then I’d thought he’d be and will have a chance to play.”

Saturday’s matchup will take place in Tuscaloosa, and Luke says the Rebels have done “a lot of crowd noise work” getting ready for Alabama. It will likely be the toughest atmosphere for Ole Miss so far in 2017.

Kickoff is set for 9 pm EST on ESPN.
