Any time an NFL franchise uses a first-round selection on a player, the hope is that player can enter the league and make an immediate impact as a rookie. If Matt Ryan is to be believed, Calvin Ridley will do just that for the Falcons this season.

Atlanta selected the Alabama receiver with the 26th overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, and so far, that selection looks to be a good one as the rookie from Tuscaloosa has already won the trust of his veteran quarterback.

Here’s what Ryan had to say when asked about Ridley’s upcoming rookie season.

“He’s a talented player, he can do a lot of different things… He’s showcased his talent level,” Ryan said. “I kinda see him having a really big year for us and really fitting in with the receiving corp that we have.”

During his three-year collegiate career, Ridley served as one of Alabama’s top targets, catching 224 passes for 2,781 yards and 19 touchdowns. That production came in spite of playing in a mostly run-based offense during that time.
