Matthew Murrell injury status revealed ahead of matchup vs. Vanderbilt

Matthew Murrell has not played for Ole Miss since Jan. 21. The Ole Miss star suffered a season-ending knee injury last year and once again ran into injury problems in a 69-57 loss to Arkansas.
According to head coach Kermit Davis, Murrell is expected to be back Saturday after a 3-game hiatus. The Rebels face off against Vanderbilt in the middle of a packed college basketball slate, looking to snap a 4-game losing streak with Murrell expected to be back on the court.

Murrell’s 14.9 points per game is 10th in the SEC and leads Ole Miss. The junior guard and 6-foot-8 Jaemyn Brakefield represent the Rebels’ best scoring threats on an offense ranked No. 144 in the country per KenPom.
The Rebels sit at 9-13 on the season and take on Vanderbilt at 1 p.m. EST on SEC Network.
