Matthew Murrell, star Ole Miss guard, announces plans for future in college basketball

Matthew Murrell announced Tuesday that he will be entering the NBA Draft while maintaining the ability to return to Ole Miss for a final season. This is a smart move by Murrell, as it allows him options and an ability to see what he can work on for a better future draft position. He’ll have until May 31 to make a final decision.
Murrell, a Memphis, TN native, has spent 3 seasons in Oxford, with his bet year coming in 2022. He took a slight step back upon receiving a larger role with the team minus Jarkel Joiner, but was still among Ole Miss’ more reliable scoring threats.
Murrell made his intentions clear on Instagram Tuesday.

It’s hard not to get excited about Murrell in a Chris Beard system, especially when Jaemyn Brakefield announced he would be staying for one more year last week. Should Murrell choose to stay and Ole Miss can get some players from the portal, the Rebels could be a team to monitor.
