Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford passed a career milestone on Sunday, as he moves up the career passing yards list in NFL history.
In a game against the New York Giants, the former Georgia signal-caller passed the career 40,551 yard mark, which moves him one notch above legendary San Francisco quarterback Joe Montana.
Perhaps more impressive, is that Stafford is currently playing the seventh game of his eleventh season in the NFL. Montana’s numbers span throughout his 16-year playing career.
The two at the top of the all-time passing yards list are still in action, as Drew Brees of the Saints and Tom Brady of the Patriots show no signs of slowing down. Stafford’s jump puts him at the No. 19 spot, behind the retired Kerry Collins with 40,922 total yards.
The former No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft has lived up to his expectations throughout a lengthy career, and will likely move a few more spots up that list before it is all said and done.
