Redshirt senior offensive lineman Max Garcia was honored by the SEC early Monday night as the conference announced the Gators lineman had been named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.

As one of the anchors of the offensive line, Garcia was instrumental in the Gators’ 655-yard and seven touchdown offensive outburst against Eastern Michigan. According to the SEC’s official release, UF coaches graded out Garcia at 97 percent at assignment, 85 percent at technique and 91 percent effort over 74 plays.

Head coach Will Muschamp was thrilled with Garcia’s performance on Saturday.

“Our offensive lineman of the game was Max Garcia,” Muschamp said at his weekly press conference. “Max did a really nice job there moving a little bit inside and got us in a lot of the right situations we needed to be in with the run and pass game.”

Garcia also recorded three knockdowns for the Gators in their season-opener.
