The word of the day to describe Dabo Swinney and Clemson? Petty.

That was the word used by Stewart Mandel of The Athletic and Danny Kanell of Sirius XM and CBSSportsHQ.com and others to describe the decision by the Clemson brain trust to not give a championship ring to QB Kelly Bryant, who transferred after four games, and has landed at Missouri.

Most of these critics of this decision have said that Bryant was a contributor to four Clemson games, including a win at Texas A&M, 28-26. Clemson supporters believe Bryant simply wasn’t there at the end, and he “quit” the team after four games.

Swinney explained that Bryant simply wasn’t on the roster by the end.

“You’ve gotta be on the team to get a ring,” Swinney said. “I love Kelly and appreciate what he did for us, but he decided to move on.”
