Mekhi Garner is off to the pros. The LSU cornerback’s 2023 plans were revealed on Thursday.
The news came via the East-West Shrine Bowl. The postseason college all-star game announced that Garner has accepted his invite, an indication that Garner is choosing the NFL Draft over using his extra year of eligibility available.
Relentless Effort?

Garner arrived at LSU, the third school of his college career, in January. After spending 2018 at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, Garner transferred to Louisiana-Lafayette for the 2019 season. After 3 seasons at Louisiana, Garner transferred to LSU.
This season, Garner appeared in all 13 games for LSU. He recorded 43 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, and 8 passes defended. After going 9-4 in 2022, Brian Kelly’s squad is set to play in the Citrus Bowl. It is not clear if Garner will play in the Citrus Bowl or opt-out to focus on NFL Draft prep.
