Mekhi Garner reveals nature of players-only meeting after Tennessee loss

For the second straight week, LSU held a players-only meeting. Cornerback Mekhi Garner disclosed the meeting was on Monday and it spanned a variety of topics.
LSU fell 40-13 against visiting Tennessee to drop to 4-2. The entry point of the conversation centered on LSU’s special teams unit. The Tigers currently are 106th in the nation according to SP+, a metric by ESPN’s Bill Connolly’s computer model.
Overall execution and disappointment with the inability to remain competitive in the contest were some other things the LSU players had a heart to heart about.

Mekhi Garner said team leaders had a players-only meeting Monday after the loss.
He said the message was the lopsided result + their execution was “unacceptable”.

The previous players only meeting occurred after LSU defeated Auburn 21-17, with quarterback Jayden Daniels summoning the session with his receivers.
Next up for LSU is a primetime road matchup at Florida (4-2). The contest will take place at on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on ESPN. Florida holds a tight advantage in the heated rivalry, with a 33-32-3 edge. However, LSU is on a three-game winning streak in the series.
