Quarterback is the most important position in football, and the crop of signal callers that are anticipated to enter this upcoming spring’s NFL Draft is the topic of great intrigue among draft analysts.

Several promising prospects under center are sure to hear their names called, and current Miami quarterback Carson Beck has been rocketing up draft boards with his recent play.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. recently sat down with Mike Greenberg and Field Yates to break down what makes the former Georgia starter stand out from his peers, and gave a rather interesting pro comparison.

“He’s a veteran,” Kiper said. “He’s been there at Georgia and done it, and now he’s at Miami and he’s doing it. You need to support him, though. He’s kind of like Mac Jones in that area. You need to support him. He’s not going to beat defenses with his legs that often, he needs that pocket, but he can throw the football accurately. His touch on the deep ball, accuracy, and willingness to take the check down, all of these are NFL caliber right now.”

There’s no denying that Beck has always had the tools of an NFL quarterback, but now he’s finally putting it all together again with the Canes in 2025, which is boosting his draft stock considerably.

It will be interesting to see how he and Miami continue to perform over the second half of the year, and what effect that ultimately ends up having on where Beck ends up hearing his name called next April.
