After a secretive process, Memphis reportedly will name Mike Norvell as its next head coach.

The Arizona State offensive coordinator has spent most of his career working under Sun Devils head coach Todd Graham.

As a result, Missouri defensive coordinator Barry Odom still remains in play for the job vacated by Gary Pinkel.

Just a short time ago, Tigers media members went into a mini tizzy when the University of Memphis president, Dr. M. David Rudd, announced via Twitter that the school had hired an unnamed coach. The language he used led many people to wonder if Memphis was about to announce Odom, involved in that search, as the coach.

Instead, Odom’s only option to become an FBS head coach appears to be Mizzou. The SEC version of the Tigers have vetted or reached out to a number of coaches — perhaps 10 or more, according to reports. But the end of the process could circle right back to the man who has been in Columbia throughout a tumultuous 2015.
