Miami spoiled Cal’s big weekend on Saturday night with a historic comeback victory.

The Golden Bears were dominant early, but ultimately faded in the fourth quarter of a 39-38 Miami victory. The Hurricanes scored 21 unanswered points against Cal in the final stanza to secure a 6-0 start to the 2024 season.

Here’s a replay of what proved to be the game-winning touchdown:

This game didn’t officially end until just after 2:30 a.m. ET on Sunday morning.

With the win, Miami avoids becoming the fifth top-10 team to lose in Week 6. Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan and Missouri all lost on Saturday. No. 11 USC also lost to an unranked team this weekend.

Miami trailed by as many as 25 points in the second half of this game. The Hurricanes were down 35-10 late in the third quarter, but were able to dominate Cal defensively from that point onwards. Cal also led 38-18 after kicking a field goal with 14:13 left in the game, but Miami’s run of 21 unanswered was enough to secure the victory.

Cam Ward was also exceptional in this win. He threw for 437 yards and accounted for 3 total touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rushing) while leading this historic comeback victory over the Golden Bears. Ward is amongst the favorites for the 2024 Heisman Trophy, particularly with Jalen Milroe and Alabama losing on Saturday.

Miami is now 6-0 for the first time in the Mario Cristobal era.
