When Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill went down with a knee injury in a narrow victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon, many fans immediately feared the worst.
In fact, the coaching staff was prepared to find a backup plan moving forward, fearing the ACL was torn.
However, on Monday, coach Adam Gase revealed good news — the former Texas A&M standout didn’t tear any ligaments:
Adam Gase says Ryan Tannehill has an ACL and MCL SPRAIN. Not torn!

At 8-5, the Dolphins need Tannehill to recover quickly in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Though backup QB Matt Moore led the game-winning drive yesterday, Tannehill is the quarterback who has gotten Miami into playoff contention and likely the only one who can keep the team there.
The Dolphins travel to New York to take on the Jets on Saturday night. Tannehill’s status for that game remains to be seen.
