The Gators could be getting some immediate help in the secondary if a grad school transfer decides to return close to home.

Marshall Taylor will use his option to transfer upon graduating from Miami (Ohio) in May and play immediately in 2016.

Taylor most recently visited Louisville and told local paper The Courier-Journal that the Cardinals are the team to beat. The Cordele, Ga. native also discussed the other schools he plans to visit, including Florida:

You’ve got to respect who Florida is. I’m from South Georgia, and Gainesville is 2 1/2 hours from me, so I kind of grew up a fan of them.

For the Gators, Taylor makes sense as a short-term solution to fill the void at safety left by Keanu Neal’s departure. Taylor, who currently measures 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, said all four schools – Louisville, Auburn, Florida and Michigan State – have offered him a scholarship.

At Miami (Ohio), Taylor played in 35 games from 2012-2015, missing the 2013 season due to injury. He posted a career-high nine tackles and an interception last season against Wisconsin.
