The Miami Hurricanes picked up their biggest win in recent memory on Saturday afternoon, holding on to knock off the Texas A&M Aggies on the road in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

The low-scoring affair was characterized by defense, and the Canes came up big when it mattered the most as freshman defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald sealed the victory by picking off Aggies’ quarterback Marcel Reed in the endzone.

Among the Miami faithful in attendance in College Station, nobody was more hyped to see the Canes pull out the 10-3 win than former Miami wideout and NFL star Michael Irvin, who celebrated the victory by kissing Mario Cristobal on the cheek during his post-game interview.

Irvin was also seen kneeling down on all fours earlier in the game prior to Malachi Toney’s game-deciding touchdown, and he exploded with excitement once the star freshman crossed the goal line.

Irvin has been on the sidelines for just about every Miami game over the past several seasons, and he has remained one of the biggest supporters of the program since he was setting program records on the field back in the mid-80s.

The Canes will now be moving on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Eve, and Irvin is likely to be on the sidelines once again cheering on his Alma Mater as they fight for a spot in the CFP semifinals.
