Michigan is getting some extra help for the Dec. 29 Peach Bowl game against No. 10 Florida.

A team spokesman told Nick Baumgardner of the Detroit Free Press that former Central Michigan head coach John Bonamego is working with the Wolverines as a consultant for the bowl game. Bonamego was fired on Nov. 23 after CMU went 1-11 this season.

Interestingly enough, Bonamego’s replacement at Central Michigan is Jim McElwain, the former Florida head coach (2015-17) who coached wide receivers at Michigan this season. McElwain will not coach against the Gators in the Peach Bowl. Jim Harbaugh announced earlier this month that analyst Ben McDaniels will be coaching the wide receivers in McElwain’s absence.

The No. 7 Wolverines are the betting favorites heading into Saturday’s meeting in Atlanta even without notable impact players DL Rashan Gary, LB Devin Bush and RB Karan Higdon. The game is set for a noon ET kickoff.
