The ongoing drama surrounding the Michigan Wolverines football team continues without a pause, as fallout from Sherrone Moore’s shocking firing continues to shed new light on the inner workings of one of college athletics’ most revered programs.

During a press conference on Monday, Michigan interim head coach Biff Poggi called the program a “malfunctioning organization.” He also confirmed that he has interviewed for the permanent head coaching position.

“Biff Poggi says he’s had multiple interviews for Michigan’s HC position. He also has some blunt words about the program’s shortcomings under Sherrone Moore, calling Michigan a “malfunctioning organization.”

Poggi also added this: “Everything that happens in this building has to be reevaluated.”

Moore was fired by Michigan on Dec. 10 after revelations of a years-long extramarital affair with a Wolverines staffer were disclosed.

Poggi served as Michigan’s associate head coach for the 2025 season, and also was plugged in as interim coach for Michigan’s wins against Central Michigan and Nebraska in late September while Moore was serving a suspension related to the program’s 2023 sign-stealing scandal.

Poggi and the Wolverines (9-3) are set to take on Texas (9-3) in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Eve (3 pm ET, ESPN).
