Alabama was already on its way to victory when Najee Harris scored on a 2-yard run with 26 seconds remaining in Wednesday’s Citrus Bowl.

The Crimson Tide were up 12 points prior to the score, which extended their lead to 35-16, the game’s final score. And the fact that the touchdown may not have been needed appeared to rub at least one Michigan player the wrong way.

“It was kind of a smack in the face,” Wolverines linebacker Cameron McGrone told the media after the game.

Harris’ touchdown put an exclamation point on a one-sided second half that went in Alabama’s favor. After trailing by two points at halftime, the Crimson Tide outscored the Wolverines, 21-0, in the second half to pull away for the victory.

That final score capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive for Alabama that lasted 5 minutes, 49 seconds. The Crimson Tide could have ran out the rest of the clock with a kneel down, but that was apparently never a consideration.

“No, pretty sure we just signaled it in,” Alabama tight end Miller Forristall told the media after the game. “And we were like, โ€˜All right, letโ€™s go.โ€™ We were ready to put it in the end zone.”

Alabama finished the season at 11-2 with the victory, while Michigan fell to 9-4.
