Mike Elko lashes out after Texas celebrations interrupt press conference

It’s safe to say Mike Elko was not in the best of moods during Friday night’s postgame press conference, following Texas A&M’s brutal loss to rival Texas.
During Elko’s conference, Longhorns fans (according to Stewart Mandel) could be heard loudly celebrating their upset win, which handed the Aggies their first loss of the season and knocked Texas A&M out of the SEC Championship game. Elko erupted at those in the room (including Mandel), saying, “Can we close the door and run a professional press conference?”
Take a look:
Not much went right for the Aggies on the road in Austin Friday night. Quarterback Marcel Reed played his worst game of the season, throwing 2 interceptions while passing for just 180 yards. The Aggies had trouble pushing the ball downfield, especially in the second half after taking a 10-3 lead into halftime.
The story of the game, though, was Texas A&M’s inability to stop Texas’s ground game. The Longhorns rushed for 218 yards and 2 touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry, despite entering this game with criticisms aimed at their run game.
Friday night was definitely a frustrating loss for the Aggies, but there’s still a silver lining to be found here. At 11-1 on the season, the Aggies are safe for a spot in the College Football Playoff, and now Elko has a week to get his squad ready for the biggest game of his coaching career to date.
