After a hard-fought 16-10 victory over Auburn that improved Texas A&M to 4-0 for the first time since 2016, Aggies head coach Mike Elko is already looking ahead to their Week 6 matchup with Mississippi State (4-1).
“It’s another SEC game,” Elko said on Monday. “They’re an extremely physical team. Jeff [Lebby] is a phenomenal offensive coach. They’re an extremely energetic group, which means they have a lot of confidence in the program and about what they’re doing.”
Last week’s win over Auburn was all about grit and toughness. Le’Veon Moss rushed for a career-high 139 yards and a touchdown despite battling a stomach bug early in the game. The Aggies’ defense held the Tigers to just 176 yards and went 0-for-12 on third downs. That said, they may have to provide a lot more through the air in order to fend off the Bulldogs. Marcel Reed didn’t have his best game under center, completing just 15 passes for 207 yards and an interception (35.1 QBR).
Next up, Texas A&M hosts Mississippi State Saturday night in a Southeastern Conference showdown. The Bulldogs enter the game coming off an overtime loss to Tennessee, making this another huge SEC test for the undefeated Aggies.
