Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies will be in action in Week 13 as they hit the road to take on the Auburn Tigers. The Aggies are 1 of 2 teams in the SEC with only 1 conference loss, with 1 of their biggest rivals Texas being the other team.

The Longhorns and Aggies play in Week 14 in a game that will have huge implications in terms of the SEC and the College Football Playoff.

During a press conference on Monday, Elko was asked if it was hard not to think about Texas. His response may have been an indication to just how big that Week 14 matchup is.

“I don’t think it’s an issue, when you are in the situation we are in, it is easy to focus on the task at hand,” Elko said in reference to this week’s game against Auburn. “Those big games earlier in the year maybe you look ahead. If we didn’t have at stake what’s at stake, maybe you would worry about it. I think our focus is single-handedly on Texas… I mean Auburn.”

The Tigers are 4-6 on the season and have to win their last 2 games against Texas A&M and Alabama just to become bowl-eligible. If the Aggies go take care of business, then this quote will be a laughing point. A loss, and there may be some fans in College Station who will look back at it as not a laughing matter.
