Mike Evans reaches historic career milestone with electric first half on TNF

Mike Evans is still putting up big-time numbers with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During Thursday Night Football, the former Texas A&M star reached an especially elite and historic milestone with a pair of first-half touchdowns vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
On the first drive of the game, Evans scored an easy pitch-and-catch touchdown near the goal line via a connection with Baker Mayfield. In a perfect play design, Evans was left wide-open with no one around him in the end zone.

Evans wasn’t done yet. He would add a longer touchdown in the 2nd quarter, simply working himself behind the defense and in between the layers of coverage for another easy score.
This time, the touchdown gave Evans an even 100 TDs for his career.

The 100 club is especially prestigious with Evans becoming just the 11th player in the history of the league to reach the plateau. He is now tied for the 9th-most touchdowns in NFL history with Tim Brown and Steve Largent.
Evans is now up to 5 touchdowns on the season, but he may not be able to catch Tony Gonzalez for the 8th-most receiving TDs in league history this season. Gonzalez finished his career with 111 receiving touchdowns, and Evans has never had more than 14 receiving touchdowns in a season.
Evans may have already compiled a strong enough case to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but reaching the 100 mark only magnifies his chances. Every player with 99+ touchdowns is either already in the HOF or expected to enter in the near future. (Larry Fitzgerald is not yet eligible and Antonio Gates is likely to enter soon.)
