Mike Leach and Will Rogers have drastically different views of the QB’s record-setting night

Will Rogers played well in his 2022 debut against Memphis Saturday night. Objectively.
The junior quarterback threw for a career-high 450 yards with 5 touchdowns and completed upwards of 75% of his passes in a commanding 49-23 win. He threw just 1 interception.
Head coach Mike Leach was satisfied with his play postgame.
“I thought he played pretty well,” Leach said postgame. “The interception we weren’t on the same page. We need to finish the route. He had one ball tipped. I thought he did a good job holding things together. He did a good job seeing the field.”
Rogers, conversely, was not.
Will Rogers said he’s ticked off with how he played after the delay. Mike Leach said he thought it was the best game Rogers had seeing the field.

It seems to be a good sign for Mississippi State fans that a career night is not enough for your starting quarterback. Rogers and Mississippi State are back in action next week against Arizona.
