Mississippi State put together an impressive 24-10 nonconference win over a solid NC State team last Saturday night to move to 2-0 on the season.

There was also a huge crowd was on hand at Davis Wade Stadium, ringing their cowbells and enjoying the performance, which was a new experience for Bulldogs coach Mike Leach.

The full stadium was a welcome change for Leach after COVID drastically limited attendance in 2020.

“I thought it was good,” Leach said Wednesday during the weekly SEC coaches teleconference. “Glad they finally opened everything up.”

Mississippi State will leave Starkville for the first time this season this to play a good Memphis team on Saturday.

One thing the Bulldogs players will miss are the cowbells, which aren’t allowed at Liberty Stadium, but Leach said it’s not anything that he worries about.

“I don’t really pay much attention to that,” Leach said. “I guess they’ve got to do what they’ve got to do”
