Mike Leach has never been short of quotes during his head coaching career. In a conference full of interesting people, he’s certainly toward the head of the class.

Take, for example, his latest topic of interest: chicken. For whatever reason, Leach’s radio show on Thursday evolved into a conversation about chicken.

“That’s why it’s called chicken, because it’s chicken,” he said, according to the Clarion-Ledger’s Stefan Krajisnik.

Good to know. But Leach continued.

“Some are hotter than others, I’ve noticed that. At Popeyes I get spicy. I like it spicy. I like the rotisserie stuff a lot too. Between fried and the rotisserie stuff, I like both of them for different reasons.”

At this rate, don’t be surprised to see Leach on a Popeyes commercial sooner rather than later. According to a search of the Popeyes website, there’s 1 location in Starkville, about 10 minutes or so away from the Mississippi State campus.

Will we soon hear Leach wax poetic about Bojangles, despite the fact that there are none in Starkville? Stay tuned.
