Mississippi State was missing a key player at Saturday’s bowl practice. Mike Leach told reporters that standout offensive lineman Charles Cross did not practice Saturday.

It’s not clear yet if Cross, who was named an ESPN All-American, has made a decision on playing in the bowl game.

Cross is eligible to declare early for the 2022 NFL Draft as a redshirt sophomore. This season, he picked up the Kent Hull Trophy for best offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi. Cross was named to the Freshman All-SEC team last season.

Mississippi State faces Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 28.
