Mike Leach was entering this season with a precarious contract situation. Mississippi state law allows public employees to have contracts with a maximum length of 4 years.

But, on Tuesday, it was reported by the Clarion Ledger that Leach had signed a 2-year extension to remain in Starkville.

Per the Clarion Ledger report, the school has confirmed that Leach has signed the extension:

Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach has signed a two-year extension, MSU confirmed Tuesday.

Leach completed two of the four years on his original contract worth about $5 million per year. The extension aligns with Mississippi’s policy of only allowing four-year deals.

The financial details of Leach’s extension have yet to be released.

In 2 years at the helm of the Bulldogs, Leach is 11-13 overall and has gone 1-1 in bowl games.
