Vanderbilt just beat Elon 42-31 in Week 1 of the college football season.
It doesn’t seem like much, but that, paired with the Commodores’ 63-10 clobbering of Hawai’i last weekend, is littered with firsts and accomplishments throughout Vanderbilt football history. The catalyst of it all is quarterback Mike Wright.
Wright has been solid as Vanderbilt’s signal caller, even against questionable defenses in Elon and Hawai’i. He threw for 4 touchdowns and rushed for 1 against the Phoenix, tied for a Vanderbilt record for most touchdowns in a single game.

Vanderbilt’s 105 points through two games is also the most the Commodores have scored in that category since 1916.
Finally, Vanderbilt topped 40 points in consecutive games for the first time since 2012 with their 42-point performance Saturday. Vanderbilt scored 49 and 40 against Mass. and Kentucky, respectively, in 2012.
