While the start of the Early Signing Period feels a lot like February’s National Signing Day, recruits actually have three days to sign with their new school in the December window. Mississippi State made a Thursday addition to its 2021 class with Amory High School standout Jay Hampton.
Less than 24 hours after getting a scholarship offer from Mike Leach’s MSU program, Hampton was signed with the Bulldogs. He shared the news on his Twitter account.

Hampton had eight other scholarship offers, including Coastal Carolina and Indiana. Hampton was a cornerback and wide receiver for Amory. He will play in the secondary for MSU.
Hampton does not have a rating or star grade on 247Sports. Rivals.com lists him as a 3-star prospect.
