Mississippi State and Washington State have agreed to cancel its 2030-31 home-and-home series due to scheduling conflicts with the Bulldogs. The school announced the decision on Friday night.
This series was scheduled in 2020 and has to be canceled due to the SEC’s recent announcement that it will move to a 9-game conference schedule. The first game in 2030 was scheduled to take place in Starkville with a trip to Pullman scheduled for the 2031 season.
With neutral site games becoming more common, this is unfortunate to see; Especially with Mississippi State and Washington State, 2 cultures that simply work together. Of course, both pullman and Starkville are recognized as great college towns, and both were at one point coached by legendary offensive mind Mike Leach. It wasn’t for another 5 seasons, but it’s a shame that matchup won’t come to fruition at both locations.
Mississippi State is having a strong start to its 2025 season, but it still needs to pick up an SEC win. The Bulldogs are off this week and will get a chance to end its conference losing streak against Florida next weekend in Gainesville.
Washington State sits at 3-2 on the year with wins over Colorado State, Idaho and San Diego State.
