A pair of Mississippi State players have joined the list of Bulldogs entering the transfer portal following Zach Arnett’s firing on Monday.
Freshman defensive back Will James entered the portal on Thursday. The former 3-star prospect from Theodore, Alabama, did not see any action for Mississippi State this season.
Joining James on Thursday is wide receiver Nakai Poole. Poole was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school and did not get any game action for Mississippi State during his freshman season.
James and Poole’s departures mark the 4th and 5th exits for Mississippi State following Arnett’s firing. Wide receivers Tyson Schilling and Jacoby Bellazar entered the portal Wednesday along with running back Simeon Price.
Arnett was fired Monday after just a season at the helm for Mississippi State. He took over after Mike Leach’s death last December, winning the Bulldogs’ bowl game, but starting off the season 4-6.
Mississippi State will close out the season with games against Southern Miss and Ole Miss.
