Following a disappointing loss in the Orange Bowl to Georgia Tech, Mississippi State received a No. 11 ranking in the final AP poll.

The ranking finishes off a historic season for the Bulldogs. Mississippi State, of course, reached the No. 1 ranking for the first time ever this season after beating three consecutive top ten teams (LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn). The rise from unranked to the No. 1 ranking in just five weeks was the fastest ever in the AP poll.

Mississippi State will lose quite a bit of talent after this season (Dak Prescott is still unknown), but Dan Mullen’s team will likely be ranked heading into the 2015 season.
