Mississippi State provides update on injured G Nick Weatherspoon

One of the scariest moments of this year’s SEC Tournament came in the Mississippi State-Tennessee quarterfinal game on Friday, when Bulldog G Nick Weatherspoon was carted off after taking a knee to the head when referees failed to stop a play.
Fortunately, it was revealed on Saturday that Weatherspoon had no broken bones and didn’t suffer a concussion, but he was still held in the hospital.
On Sunday, Clarion-Ledger reporter Will Sammon tweeted that Weatherspoon has a hip bone contusion, but no fracture:
no fracture for Nick Weatherspoon. scan shows a hip bone contusion, Mississippi State announced.

That’s great news for the Bulldogs and for Weatherspoon, as he’ll potentially be able to return for the NIT if Mississippi State receives an invitation.
It’s also good news for those refs, as a more severe injury would have really called into question their decision not to stop the play when Weatherspoon originally got injured.
