Mississippi State has announced an interim coach for the Bulldogs as the team deals with the departure of head coach Dan Mullen.
It was announced Sunday evening that Mullen was officially hired as the next head coach of the Florida Gators. Mullen returns to the program where he was the OC from 2005-08, but his departure leaves a big void with the Bulldogs.
Mullen had been with Mississippi State since 2009 and put up consistently strong results. He led the Bulldogs to eight or more wins five times and will leave with 69 wins overall, good for second place on the school’s all-time list.
The Bulldogs are moving on to life without Mullen, and it was reported that RBs coach and Special Teams Coordinator Greg Knox will be the interim coach for the Bulldogs bowl appearance.
Will Sammon shared the news on Twitter:

Knox has been at MSU since 2009 after previous coaching stops in the SEC at Ole Miss and Auburn. MSU is just beginning the search process for its next head coach, but Knox will try to lead the team to a bowl win after Mullen’s departure.
