The struggles of Mississippi State K Westin Graves have been well documented this season.
Misses against South Alabama and BYU were big reasons the Bulldogs lost those games, and the struggles continued even in Saturday’s big win against Texas A&M.
The junior is only 9-for-16 this season and has missed four of his last five attempts. However, coach Dan Mullen said he’s confident Graves will snap out of his slump soon, according to The Clarion-Ledger:
“It’s just tough. It’s one of those positions it’s mental,” Mullen said. “If it was something where he was not hitting the ball well, then you have to make the change. He’s hitting the ball well. We just gotta keep battling through it.”
The Bulldogs face Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss to close out the season. Graves will have to be perfect to give his team even the slightest chance of pulling off another massive upset.
