When Mississippi State runs for 200 yards in a game, it usually has a chance to win.

Three of the five times the Bulldogs have passed the 200-yard mark, they’ve won. The other two times, they’ve lost on a last-second field goal.

So, when the Bulldogs host Arkansas on Saturday night, they’ll be aiming for that 200-yard plateau. RB Aeris Williams, who ran for 140 yards and a touchdown in an upset win against Texas A&M, will be the biggest key to Mississippi State’s success.

Along with QB Nick Fitzgerald, Williams needs to run well. According to The Clarion-Ledger, assistant coach Greg Knox said Williams is feeling more confident:

“When you have success, it tends to feed. You feed off of that,” running back coach Greg Knox said. “I think the A&M game as he continued more and more in the game and got more carries and more playing time, he began to feed off of that.”

Williams agrees with his coach, saying he’s feeling more in tune with what the Bulldogs are trying to do offensively:

“I’m just getting more comfortable,” Williams said. “And once your teammates get more comfortable in you, it just makes everything so much better.”

The Bulldogs host the Razorbacks at 6 p.m. Central time on Saturday night. The game can be seen on ESPNU.
