Barry Odom no longer has to worry about his plan for approaching a bye week. The Missouri coach clearly has that figured out as his Tigers beat Troy 42-10 Saturday night.

Entering Saturday’s game against Troy, Odom had a 0-7 all-time record with two weeks or more to prepare for an FBS opponent which led to a change-up in Missouri’s bye week structure. Clearly, the new plan in Columbia worked.

Following a less than ideal start, Troy marched down the field and scored immediately, the Tigers completely controlled this game. Down 7-0 early, Missouri then reeled off 42 consecutive points against Troy to take a 42-7 lead into halftime.

The biggest story coming out of this blowout is the unknown status of Kelly Bryant. Just before the halftime break, the Missouri quarterback was hit in the knee in what appeared to be a cheap shot by a Troy defender. The QB had completed 12 of 19 for 221 yards and three touchdowns with an additional rushing touchdown in the half before going down.

Bryant remained on the ground for several minutes before gingerly walking off the field. He went back to the locker room before the halftime break and did not return during the second half.

If you missed the hit, you can view it below:

Taylor Powell took the field in Bryant’s place. Missouri’s backup QB completing six of eight throws for 57 yards. Missouri did not score in the game after Powell took over in the second half.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior linebacker Cale Garrett had himself a day. The team captain had two interceptions, including a pick six, against Troy.

Missouri, now 4-1 on the season, hosts Ole Miss next weekend in Columbia.
